The human ear can theorically capture a large range of frequencies (16-16000 Hz) and discern an infinite amount of rythms. However, as years go by, our ear generally settles into a habit and remains efficient above all in those frequencies and rythms where we use our mother tongue. It is difficult to break out this habit.

The French mainly use the frequencies from 1000 to 2000 Hz, while the English use frequencies which range from 2000 to 12000 Hz. It is no surprise that the French have so much difficulties in learning English and the English in learning French !
Each language therefore has a preferential use for certains ranges of sound frequencies , called basic frequency bands, as is demonstrated by the table below :

Thanks to the Tomatis Method , the ear will be forced to hear what it does not hear naturally. This can only be achieved by using a special system which makes use of the latest technology. These exercises are done with electronic swith-overs and by using a set of filters and amplifiers , which respond to the demands of the working of the human ear.
The Electronic Ear enables the student to transform the way he ordinarily hears so that he hears the language he wants to learn in the way a native of that country would.
